Week 11 (Nov. 7, 2018): Gimbal Motor Calculations (Load Calculations)

Today, the entire SPARTAN Superway 2018-2019 team took a group photo. We also received some unfortunate news. After a change in ownership of the SSDC building, we were given until the end of this semester before being, essentially, evicted. Nevertheless, Dr. Furman reassured us that the Mechanical Engineering Department will fight for us. We students won’t give up either. Even if we do get kicked out, we will either find a new lot to work in or work on campus. For the rest of the class period, we continued to work.

We focused on performing calculations related to the gimbal motor for today. Although we included motor calculations in our Presentation #2, we are going to expand upon those calculations.

The desired velocity of 1.084 m/s has been achieved with the new bogie wheels, the new gimbal motor, the old 7.4V LiPo battery, and a 2:1 gearing set.
